Episode 32: How to Plan The Next Year

Every December I do something that never fails to shock me.

I take out all my old vision boards and goal-setting files… and I do a deep dive into the past.

And every single time, I’m in awe. Because I can literally see it: things I wrote down 10, 15, even 20 years ago… happened.

Not always in the timeline I wanted. But they happened.

On one vision board, I had a photo of a woman sitting on a bench in the snow at a ski resort—full ski outfit, black pants, white top. Eight years later, I took an identical photo in the Alps, wearing the same colors, in the same scene. I didn’t plan that. It just… unfolded.

Another one: a little girl in a pink checkered bikini. Years later, Joy had the exact same bikini photo while we were living in a beachfront home in Limassol. I could never have predicted that her godmother would buy that specific bikini. But there it was—vision board to reality.

And one more that still makes me laugh: I had cut out a photo of a man from a magazine. Six years later, I met my ex-husband… and when I look back now, that man looks like his twin brother.

My beautiful friend, vision boards and goals work. They work.

But here’s the part most people miss:

Planning is not wishing.
Goals without systems don’t survive real life.

That’s why I recorded Episode 32 of the Global Academy of Coaching Podcast:

Episode 32: How to Plan The Next Year

Listen Here:

This is not a “set your goals and hope for the best” episode.

This is my step-by-step process for planning the year in a way that makes follow-through more likely—especially when motivation disappears (and it will).

Here’s what you’ll get inside the episode:

  1. Your GPS (your vision)
If you don’t enter a destination, you can’t arrive anywhere. We make it crystal clear.
  2. 100 Blessings first
Before you plan, you shift your energy. Gratitude changes your entire perspective—and your results.
  3. Plan the fun first
Yes, first. You block the joy, the trips, the experiences, the play. Your brain starts working for it.
  4. Then we plan the goals
Health, money, career, relationships, meaning—numbers, dates, clarity.
  5. Systems, not willpower
For every goal, you build a system that brings you back when life happens.

And then I give you one simple invitation:

This week, block 90 minutes.
One meeting with yourself.
Do the look-back. Choose your outcomes. Build the system. Put it in the calendar.
